The program of Imitation and Segments reflects on imitation in its different guises. As a compositional technique of the Baroque, the audience will be guided through the imitation art of J. S. Bach, and the rarely performed flute sonata of Ch. Koechlin, who was in fact inspired by Bach all his life. The works of Rybář and Loudová explore the imitation of human voice by the flute. Rybar's Segments, with their contrasting sections, evoke various manifestations of human nature, and a short appearance of the voice of the flutist, encourages the performer to contemplate the relationship between her instrument and her voice. Ivana Loudová's Lunovis on the theme of Christian Morgenstern's poems for flute and mezzo-soprano is possibly a culmination of this exploration. To what extent are voices independent in their coexistence? Can their worlds merge completely in imitations by imitating musical material and colors? The flutist, pianist and singer will raise these and other questions during a live production and seek unexpected answers on the stage.
